- You are permitted to copy, and distribute this software for non-commercial purposes.
- You should not modify, decompile, disassemble, decrypt, extract, or otherwise reverse engineer in any manner.
- Java 2 (SDK 2) or Java Run-time Environment 2. It does not work with older versions.
- NetScanner needs an Internet connection (direct or via a proxy) to load HTML pages from web sites on the internet, or a web server in the local network.
- NetScannerPro v0.1: In August 1999, I demonstrated the core as a concept in my college.
- NetScannerPro v0.2: [October 3, 1999] First public release of NetScannerPro. This version demonstrates the feasibility of the model, and the user interface.
- Download nspro_0_2.zip [80kb] or nspro_0_2.tar.gz [80kb].
- Unpack the downloaded file creates a directory nspro_0_2. Look for the readme.txt and nspro.jar files.
- Add NetScannerPro.jar to your Java CLASSPATH.
- Launch NetScannerPro with java NetScanner or jre NetScanner.
- If you don't want to change your CLASSPATH, try java -cp nspro.jar NetScanner.
- Invoke NetScannerPro->Settings menu. Change necessary settings. Particularly enter proxy settings if your internet access is via a proxy server.
- Type the URL of the web page you want to test. For example, type www.subrahmanyam.com in the location place holder and press enter.

- Invoke the Action->Start menu or click on the green button on the tool bar to start scanning the links.

- The status information about the links will be displayed one by one. You can stop the scanning process by pressing the red button on the tool bar or by invoking action->stop menu.
- Click on the Browser on the tool bar to see the document in your default browser.
- If a link appears in blue color (with an underline), you can click on the link (just like you do in a web browser) to load that link. If a link appears in a non-blue color, you'll not be able to click through.
- This is to configure NetScannerPro according to your requirements. The four panels history, proxy, connection, browser provide various option to configure NetScannerPro .
