NetScanner
Introduction <<Features>> Protocols and Diagnostics Download
- Verifies http, file and ftp protocols. Support for other protocols may be added in future.
- Timed-out network connections: NetScanner forces a connection time-out if a link could not be activated within a finite amount of time (by default, 30 seconds).
- Multiple documents: More than one URLs may be opened in different windows and analyzed simultaneously.
- URL history: NetScanner records all the sites visited, and the user can move back and forth across these sites. At the end of a session, NetScanner creates a history log file (NetScanner.hst) in the user's home directory, which will be restored for the next session.
- Document caching: NetScanner uses memory caching to avoid checking duplicate links in a document. However, to respond to document changes whenever a document is reloaded or a new document is opened, the cache is cleared.
- Customization: NetScanner's customizable parameters include ftp settings (login and password), proxy-server settings, maximum connection-time, length of history log etc., in addition to fonts, colors and the like. Currently, custimization requires editing the NetScanner.cfg file to suite the requirements. A GUI support may be implemented in a future release.
- Cosole support: A Java Console is included in NetScanner to which status messages and other error messages are directed to. The console may be activated by clicking the "Console" tool button.
- Browser-like GUI: Many features of the NetScanner GUI follows those of popular browsers to enhance the usability. Double-clicking a link of a document quickly opens the link for analysis. NetScanner uses an improved version of the customizable Table Widget, and other pure java components such as tool tips, combo-boxes and button bars. Some of these components will be released soon as pluggable components.
