High Pass Challenge (HPC) – 2008

I rode the High Pass Challenge yesterday. This is one of the toughest rides organized by Cascade.org, with the ride starting from Packwood (WA), and going upto Windy Ridge, a mere four miles away from the crater at Mt St Helens, with views of Mt Rainier and Mt Adams (?) along the way.

The ride is approximately 112 miles long, with a cumulative climb of over 7500ft. It was a killer. I bet there were a number of riders finishing this in under 6 hours. But I took 8 and half hours and survived.

we rode the HPC yesterday too. I am kind of wiped out but what a beautiful ride. Windy Ridge was just fantastic. Cascade did a really good job organizing the ride. It is the most lovely (and the longest) ride I have ever done.

Tell me about getting wiped out! Feeling awful today, but am very happy that I finished this scenic ride. This is certainly a different “kind” of a ride.
