Subbu

Good luck with your move. Sorry we couldn't meet again before you left.

If you visit Bay Area soon, please send an email. We should meet.

Doh!

s/tried/traded/ in my previous comment.

Back on topic - Yes, Seattle vehicles are *very* bike and pedestrian friendly. Cars will stop in the middle of the three lane highway to let me cross over... it is completely insane to guy coming from the East Coast of the US. I've lived in Tampa, Florida (usually in the top three cities for pedestrian accident via car) and Philadelphia... neither place was particularly friendly to cyclist or pedestrians. (Though to its credit, Philly had an extensive network of Bike lanes.)

Thanks Shawn.

We are living east in Issaquah, and the commute has been quite good (15-20 min). I have not tried biking to work yet, but I am finding some very good biking routes for evening/weekend biking. One BIG difference I noticed is that drivers here are much more bike friendly than they are in the bay area.

I just moved here in January 2008 and I've found the rain thing way overblown. It rains just as much in the Northeast and I've tried sticky, humid, and hot summers for dry, breezy, and mild ones.

I'm working Bellevue myself -- it is a lot more suburban than I'd care for and there's no easy way to bike to Bellevue from North Seattle. If you can round-up a carpool you'll get back & forth between Seattle & Bellevue very quickly.

Best of luck!
