My First Mt Diablo Ride

with one comment

I rode up Mt. Diablo (3830ft) from home today. It was brutal. It was only 17 miles from my home to the summit, but it was one of my steepest climbs. Here is the elevation profile.

The route was rather hilly for the first 6 miles from my home. The actual climb started once I turned right onto the Mt Diablo State Park. In the remaining 11 miles, I ended up climbing over 3300ft. The first 5-6 miles of these 11 miles the road was moderately steep, but the route got serious after that, with my GPS showing 8-11% grades conistently. It got steeper to the end with my GPS showing 14-15% for the last quarter mile. It was insane. The cumulative ascent was 4150ft.

Embeddable Cycling Maps

All the maps and profiles on Cyclogz are now embeddable. Here is, e.g. the Mt Evan’s climb I did last year. No more screenshots from Garmin Training Center….
