Mr Frog’s Wild Ride

without comments

Not sure how to describe yesterday’s Mr Frog’s Wild Ride near Murphys (CA). Distance was moderate - just a metric century. Weather was nice and cool. No long climbs like I used to see in Colorado. But this ride was so unique that I heard one of the female riders commenting that the first part of the ride felt like child birth. It was tough. The ascents were steep and winding. The descents were steep and too quick to relax and recover. The pavement was rough, making the descents more difficult.

To top it all, I had no clue of what was ahead as I found that my GPS was totally out of charge right at the start of the ride. I was told that, by the 32nd mile mark, we climbed over 5000ft of the total 7000ft. The rest was not easy either.

The ride was designed to avoid traffic for most of the ride. The aid/rest stops were reasonably placed and the staff were very motivating and encouraging. There was even a band at the lunch stop in Moke Hill.

Here are some pictures from this ride.

A slide show will appear here shortly.
