About Subbu

I am an hands-on engineer plus architect currently working in the web services group at Yahoo! Inc where my job makes me look into HTTP, REST and various issues around architecting and designing HTTP web services. Our team develops standards and guidelines for developing web services, as well as the infrastructure that goes with it.

My actual first name is Subrahmanyam, and to save everyone from saying this name, I go by Subbu.

Prior to Yahoo!, I worked as a Senior Staff Enginer and architect at BEA Systems, and was the key brain behind portlet remoting technologies built into WebLogic Portal. In addition I actively contributed some major features for JSR-168, JSR-268, JSR-301, and Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP) specifications. In particular I co-authored WSRP 2.0 specification, and wrote a primer on WSRP 1.0.

Prior to that, I worked with Wipro and before that at PTC.

I am an alumni of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (India) for my Masters and Ph.D., both in Electrical Engineering, and J.N.T.U., Kakinada (India) for my B.Tech., also in Electrical Engineering.
